Professional Licensure Information

In compliance with federal regulations, Maryville University has duly conducted a preliminary review of our curriculum and educational licensing requirements in all states and territories and have made determinations regarding educational requirements for licensure. However, professional licensure and certification regulations vary from jurisdiction to jurisdiction and are constantly changing. Therefore, we strongly encourage students pursuing degrees that lead to professional licensure and/or certifications (e.g. nursing, accounting, physical therapy, occupational therapy, counseling, etc.) to seek guidance from the appropriate licensing/certification board in their intended state of residence or practice to ensure our program meets licensure requirements prior to beginning an academic program.

Furthermore, some professions and states may require background checks or character and fitness investigations during their licensure/certification process that may disqualify individuals if they have been accused or convicted of certain actions, misdemeanors, or felonies. Please check with your state licensing board for details, if this is your case.

For your convenience, we have included a list of professional organizations that house contact information for these licensing boards in different jurisdictions.

International Students. At this time, we cannot confirm if our curriculum in any of the programs leading to licensure meets professional licensure/certification in jurisdictions outside the United States or any of its territories.

Field Experiences Abroad. Students enrolled in programs that require field experiences (internships, externships, or clinical practice) for licensure may not be able complete these experiences outside the United States due to professional licensure/certification and accreditation requirements.
