The BEST Onboarding Ambassador Program is an onboarding and knowledge-sharing method used to orient new staff members. Think of it less as a mentorship program and more as a welcoming committee to Maryville.
What Is an Onboarding Ambassador?
An Onboarding Ambassador is a colleague from a different department (not a supervisor or direct report) who partners with a new staff member during his or her first year of employment. This person will assist in the assimilation of the new hire into the organization.
An Onboarding Ambassador is someone who is:
- A friendly face
- A contact
- Committed to helping the new hire succeed
- A “buddy”
Characteristics of a good Onboarding Ambassador
- Good listener
- Prepared to communicate regularly with others
- Excellent communications and interpersonal skills
- Positive
- Accessible
