DOCTORATE – TEACHER LEADERSHIP OPTIONS

On Campus

Students choosing the on-campus path will take all courses on campus.

Virtual Low-Residency

Members of the cohort will meet together via Zoom each week with their course professors on Thursday evenings from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. for seven consecutive semesters to engage in whole group, small group and/or individual activities.

Cohort members will travel to the University campus on four Saturdays during the program to engage in face-to-face learning with their colleagues and professors focused on the development of their research/practicum projects and to share the results of these activities with their peers. (One Saturday Session in Semesters 1, 4, 6 and 7).

Maryville’s nationally accredited program is recognized throughout the St. Louis region as a leader in administrator preparation. With a strong foundation of theory, practical application, and a developed personal philosophy about leadership, the program produces highly respected leaders.

This program includes an internship and school experience where small groups of candidates design and implement an instructional workshop of three to five days duration in their area of specialization for current teachers or Maryville teacher candidates.

Steve Coxon, associate professor of education, directs the Center for Access and Achievement (CA2) which opened in 2017.

CA2 runs programs that give students in underfunded districts in St. Louis County the boost they need to thrive, including App Dev Camp with Riverview Gardens, STEM Sprouts with Ritenour preschoolers, Young Scholars with Ferguson-Florissant and more.
