How to Apply
Registration will open at 7:00 PM on Thursday, August 28th
Step 1: Review the projects available below.
Step 2: Choose a project or two you would be interested in volunteering for. It is always good to have a backup in case your project fills up.
Step 3: Click on the project you would like to register for. You will find the application at the bottom of the project’s page.
Step 4: Once you complete the application, you will receive a confirmation email. Read over the email and note and important information.
Step 5: Fill out the required 2024 Travel Waiver & Hold Harmless Agreement at https://getinvolvedmu.maryville.edu/submitter/form/start/637524. This is REQUIRED for all participants.

Angels’ Arms: Outdoor Clean-Up | Volunteers will help us with a "Fall" outdoor yard cleanup at one of our homes (which is also our office). Barnes-Jewish Hospital: OT Fall prevention | THIS PROJECT IS FOR 2ND & 3RD YEAR OT STUDENTS ONLY! Volunteers will provide fall prevention screenings on individuals from the community, mainly older adults. The screenings run by OT are grip strength (dynamometer) and cognition (Short Blessed Test = 6-item cognitive screen). Volunteers will receive a brief training/review of both and will be scheduled for one of two shifts (8-11am & 11am-2pm; volunteer input considered when scheduling). The event runs from 8:30-1:30 and volunteers helping with set-up or tear-down depending on their shift. Students are encouraged to observe other disciplines that are part of the event (pharmacologists, PTs, ophthalmologists, nursing, etc.). They will have opportunities to network with OTs/COTAs who work at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and student volunteers from other programs/schools. | 08:00-14:00 | 0/10 | |
Barnes-Jewish Hospital: PT Fall Prevention | This project is for 5th & 6th year Physical Therapy Students. Volunteers will be able to provide fall screenings on individuals from the community. Volunteers are encouraged they are encouraged to network with physical therapists/physical therapist assistants who work at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and other places as well as other students who might attend. | 08:00-03:00 | 0/20 | |

City of O’Fallon, MO: Honeysuckle Removal | Volunteers will use tools such as loopers and bow saws to cut the overgrown honeysuckle out of the walking trail path and pull it out of the walking trail. Delmar Gardens West: Trip St. Louis Aquarium | Volunteers will help assist with bringing 5- 6 residents to the St. Louis Aquarium. We would load the bus at Delmar Gardens West around 9:30am for a fun trip at Union station. The bus will pick us back up around 1:30pm.
