Art & Design

Since art professor, Kent Addison joined Maryville University 45 years ago, our art and design programs have continued to expand in both size and scope. Programs are housed in the Art & Design Building, an 18,000-square-foot facility that features studios for students in interior design, graphic design, interactive design, printmaking, drawing, painting, ceramics, jewelry and metals, and photography. The building also contains conference and critique rooms, and multi-functioned gallery space for juried student exhibitions.

Maryville offers NASAD Accredited undergraduate programs in graphic design, interactive design, interior design, studio art and art history. Students may also elect to receive a minor in art or art history.

Students planning a career in fields such arts management, art therapy or medical illustration may pursue a degree in studio art or graphic design and a specific minor which would prepare them for graduate study.

In addition, the faculty of Art & Design and the School of Education collaborate to offer the art education program (K-12 certification) for students seeking an art teaching career.
