Verne Wilson has served as a counselor at Maryville University since July of 2017. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Syracuse University in Syracuse, New York, and his Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from Saint Louis University in Saint Louis, Missouri. Verne is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of Missouri and has been working with college-age students since 2010. Verne enjoys working with students on a wide range of issues but has a special interest in working with students surrounding trauma, alcohol/substance use, and family and relational concerns. In his free time, he spends time with his family and provides mentoring for a male group of students from 6th grade to twelfth grade. Verne enjoys relaxing by watching his favorite pastime, football, and action movies.

Jennifer Starks has provided therapy services at Maryville University since August 2022. She received her Bachelor of Science from Missouri Baptist University in St. Louis, Missouri, and her Master of Arts in Counseling from Saint Louis University, St. Louis, Missouri. Jennifer is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Missouri and has been providing therapy to a variety of ages and populations since 2008. Jennifer enjoys counseling on a wide range of issues but has a special interest in working with students on anxiety, depression, stress management, and grief. She uses multiple approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing to support students on this exciting new journey in their lives. Jennifer is a native St. Louisan and lives in Affton with her husband, 4 children, and sweet dog, Luna. Her favorite pastime is reading, watching (or rewatching) movies and shows with her family, and traveling. Jennifer’s favorite self-care activity is running.

Dalton received his Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Belhaven University in 2016. He moved to St. Louis in 2020 and is currently working on his Masters in the Art of Counseling from Covenant Seminary. Dalton is interested in working with a variety of mental health issues such as depression and anxiety and taking a collaborative and cooperative approach to counseling. He enjoys being outside playing disc golf or hiking and also enjoys a good chill day with a TV show or movie.

Jocelyn Hake grew up in St. Louis and is currently pursuing her masters in counseling at Covenant Theological Seminary. Before graduate school, she enjoyed working with individuals with autism for 15 years. Jocelyn enjoys counseling on a wide range of issues but has a special interest in family and relational distress, neurodiversity challenges, emotional regulation, and developmental & complex trauma. In her free time, she enjoys being outdoors, reading, playing sports, and hanging out with her 14-year-old son.
