Top 10 Best Places To Relax On Campus

No matter the talent, staying at 100% throughout a long day of classwork can be a daunting task. When the time comes to stop and take a break between classes, there are a few spots on campus that are perfect for catching that moment of peace.

Donius University Center/Library Quad

The grassy field between the Donius University Center and the Library is a beautiful spot to just relax and enjoy the sunshine. With patio-seating and plenty of trees to string hammocks from, this spot is a treat in nice weather.

Starbucks Coffee

Who doesn’t love a coffee-break? There’s a certain peace in relaxing in a coffee-shop, the smell of coffee-grinds and their usually-excellent taste in background music makes for a lovely place to study or grab a bite to eat.

Health and Wellness

If you’re looking for some true zen, swing by Health-and-Wellness in the library. It’s a quiet place to relax— and they even host yoga-classes some days.

Library Upper Floor

The upper-floor of the library is built for study. With plenty of different seating-types, charging ports for every kind of device, and several quiet-rooms in case you really need some peace, it’s perfect for focus.

Library Lower Floor Lounge

The lower floor of the library is one of the most sought-after spots on campus, and with the amount of plush seating and table-space, it’s not hard to see why. The area is fairly quiet too, making it perfect for studying in small groups. However, it can fill up quite quickly— and there aren’t many places to stop and charge your phone.

Louies

Louies is an excellent spot to take a moment and relax, with extensive seating and a vaguely sports-bar vibe, the area is great if you’re looking for something for small groups, or somewhere to catch a game. However, it’s a very-popular spot for student events, so be sure to check the schedule before you plan a study-session!

Student Engagement

If you’re looking for a more social brand of relaxation, Student Engagement is a great place for group-study. There’s plenty of seating, and plenty of resources. It can get a bit loud in there, so if you’re a fan of the quiet, maybe pick a different spot on our list.

Donius University Center

The main hall of the DUC has plenty of space for group-activities, with everything from lunchroom-tables to booths. If you’re looking for big-windows, wide-open space, and a place to get out of the weather, the main hall of the DUC is the perfect place to relax with friends.

Window-Bay-Bench, Reed Hall 2nd Floor

If you have several back-to-back classes in Reed Hall, the best spot to wait out that down-time is the window-bay-bench on the second floor. Quiet and fairly secluded, it can get a bit chilly in the colder months, but there’s plenty of bench-space to stretch out on.

Art and Design Lobby

If you’re looking for somewhere quiet and warm, the Art and Design lobby is the perfect place to curl up between classes. With some of the most comfortable chairs on-campus seated next to a large window, the space is usually warm and cozy even on chilly days, especially if you bring a blanket to class. But be forewarned, there are only two chairs available, so if you miss your spot, you might find yourself on the concrete instead.
