What can I do with this degree?
Physicians and surgeons diagnose and treat injuries and illnesses, promote health and help patients manage medical conditions. They work in specialties ranging from family medicine and pediatrics to cardiology, psychiatry and surgery.
Physicians typically complete a bachelor’s degree and four years of medical school, followed by three to nine years of internship and residency training. Additional fellowship training may be required for some specialties.

At Maryville, you’ll major in biology, biochemistry or other science program as part of your pre-med program, and then move right into your medical training at our partner program with Lake Erie College Of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM). You’ll meet annually with LECOM staff for advising and workshops that will help prepare you for medical school.
