An Overview of Exercise Science at Maryville

I chose the exercise science route because when I was a kid, I was never the most talented athlete on my team. I started working out my sophomore year of high school, and sure enough, it helped me become a way better baseball player. I got stronger, I got faster, and I fell in love with getting other athletes better, getting them stronger, and hopefully making them better people overall. The professors in all my classes have been absolutely outstanding. The smaller class sizes allow their communication to be a lot more genuine, and I believe that they are very interested in growing and developing students. We have a lot of very high level technology here in our human performance lab. All exercise science students have access to the Hawkins force plates, which include counter movement jump testing, isometric mid thigh pull testing. We also have various velocity based training methods such as perch and gym aware, and we also have very high level timing gates with our new Let's Reacts. Having access to all of that high level technology in our human performance lab as an undergrad will help me succeed at a higher rate once I'm able to move on into a professional strength and conditioning setting. Here in the Maryville exercise science program, it's much more than just a major. I've built friends and relationships that'll last a lifetime while also having experiences that are one of a kind. If you're interested in joining the exercise science program here at Maryville, feel free to come down and we'd be happy to take you on a tour and you can visit the facilities.
