Chemistry is the study of matter. If you can see it, feel it, taste it or touch it, somewhere, somehow out there, a chemist is studying it. Chemistry is a window into understanding the universe. In fact, it's often called the central science. Because chemistry is such a fundamental science, it connects to every other branch of science or production. Our program and all our resources are designed to maximize your undergraduate experience. All our classes are taught by trained and seasoned chemists. Most have a PhD. You'll have the opportunity to attend local and national conferences to present your research. You'll have the opportunity to work with other universities in research, experience for undergraduate programs. Doing science is the best way, and arguably the most fun way to learn science. So at Maryville you get to work directly with the professor doing research. And you get hands-on experience with advanced instrumentation. Or doing field work. Once you graduate, you'll have the opportunity to do everything from quality control science to senior science positions. You can also go into scientific recruiting or sales.
