(happy music) The Biomedical Sciences Program at Maryville University provides an excellent foundation in biological chemical systems of the human body. It's a wonderful opportunity for students to learn about anatomy and physiology, and general microbiology, any aspect of human biological systems that is gonna prepare them for a career in the health professions or advanced degrees in higher level biology. Maryville University has a very small faculty, we're a small university. One of the advantages of that is that students have the opportunity to see these faculty several times during the course of their time here at Maryville, so they have an opportunity to develop excellent relationships with the faculty, and develop those relationships into something that they can use in the future with respect to letters of recommendation and advice. Because of the small class sizes, we have an opportunity to have an active learning environment, so students get to interact with one another in a small group setting. We have beautiful laboratory facilities, each lab that we have is coordinated to be working with a lecture, so that integration provides an opportunity for the students to bring what they're learning inside of the lecture into an application kind of experience in the laboratory. When a student graduates from Maryville University with a degree in the biomedical sciences, they have lots of choices, some of our students choose to go right out into the working environment, so there are possibilities for a professional job right out of graduation, students could work as scientific writers for newspapers or magazine publications, they have opportunities in pharmaceutical sales and medical laboratory sales or marketing in those companies.
