Actuaries manage risk. It's what we do. We use our highly refined analytical and problem-solving skills to help organizations identify understand measure and exploit risk. Maryville's Actuarial Science program is designed to assist you, master the material contained in the first six examinations offered by the Society of Actuaries. The SOA recognizes our program in this global list of colleges and universities has an actuarial program offering an advanced curriculum. Our program stays up to date by offering new courses in Enterprise Risk Management as well as a new set of courses in the fast evolving discipline of data science. Our small classes and caring faculty provides one-on-one learning opportunities. Many of our classes include group projects and presentations to help you learn current topics in the dynamic group setting while honing your communication and presentation skills. You will find employment with a wide range of companies of hire actuaries. Traditional insurance and consulting companies hire you to help with insurance risk management, pricing, and setting appropriate reserves to meet their future obligations. Non-traditional employers hire you in the areas of risk management for data science and other areas where analytic and problem-solving skills are highly valued.
