HEERF III

Maryville University’s available HEERF Emergency Grants have been disbursed.

In response to the ongoing COVID-19 global pandemic, the 2021 American Rescue Plan (ARP) has provided an additional emergency financial aid grant for students called the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF III). This grant may be used to assist students who have exceptional needs related to educational costs, food, housing, healthcare or childcare.

Eligibility criteria for automatic funding for HEERF III:

  • Enrolled in Spring 2021 or Summer 2021 as of 05/16/2021
  • Have a completed 2020-21 FAFSA on file with Maryville University as of 05/16/2021
  • Demonstrate exceptional need based upon an official Expected Family Contribution (EFC) from the FAFSA as of 05/16/2021, with an EFC of 0-20,000. What is my Expected Family Contribution?

EFC range is based on need calculated by the 2020-2021 FAFSA. The Federal HEERF III Emergency Grant is awarded on a one-time basis, and is not renewable. HEERF III requires the University to prioritize a greater portion of funding to undergraduate students that exhibit exceptional need.

Undergraduate

Zero – 5,711 EFC $900.00
5,712 – 12,000 EFC $400.00
12,001 – 20,000 EFC $300.00

Graduate

Zero – 5,711 EFC $750.00
5,712 – 12,000 EFC $350.00
12,001 – 20,000 EFC $250.00

HEERF III Emergency Grants will be processed through the student account and will be directly refunded to eligible students. It will not be applied to student account balances. Any outstanding balance is the financial responsibility of the student.

Eligible students are recommended to setup an eRefund profile to obtain funding as quickly as possible. Distribution of Funding will begin May 21, 2021, with refunds processed by May 28, 2021.

Unfortunately, funding is not available to all students in need due to limited funding provided to Maryville through HEERF III and the requirement that the University prioritize funding for students with documented exceptional need. Thus, students without a FAFSA on file, or who have an EFC outside of the listed range will not be automatically eligible for HEERF III Funding.

Students enrolled in the eligible periods, but without a completed FAFSA or who are not eligible for Title IV aid will have an opportunity to apply for funding after automatic funding is disbursed, and will receive additional information sent to their Maryville email, by 5/28/2021. Applications will remain open until such time funding is exhausted.

Incoming Freshmen, or new students beginning enrollment Fall 2021 will not be eligible for HEERF III funding.
