Maryville University Welcomes Dr. Oliver Tacto as the New Dean of Student Wellness to Enhance Student Wellbeing and Holistic Care

Maryville continues to grow student success capabilities by focusing on holistic wellness.

Maryville University is thrilled to announce the appointment of Dr. Oliver Tacto as the new Dean of Student Wellness, effective September 5th. As a distinguished senior member of the Student Life team, Dr. Tacto brings a wealth of experience and a strong commitment to optimizing student wellness and fostering a holistic approach to student care.

In his new role, Dr. Tacto will be at the forefront of strategic planning and assessment activities aimed at enhancing the planning, delivery, and evaluation of student wellness across the university’s diverse student body. With a deep understanding of the evolving needs of students in higher education, Dr. Tacto will play a pivotal role in coordinating various aspects of student wellness to ensure that students receive comprehensive support.

Dr. Tacto brings a wealth of experience to this role which will enable him to innovate and build relationships resulting in healthier and more successful Maryville students,” says Raphaella Prange, Vice President of Student Life at Maryville University.

As the leader of Student Wellness, Dr. Tacto will be responsible for overseeing personnel selection and evaluation, program planning and evaluation, and budget planning and resource management. By collaborating closely with other departments across the university, he will set and execute annual goals and objectives while continually assessing and improving service offerings.

His core responsibilities focus on providing guidance to the broader Maryville University community on matters related to student mental, physical, and behavioral health. His expertise will extend to advising on holistic student wellness, emergencies, and services, contributing to a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment that fosters academic and personal growth.

Dr. Tacto expressed his enthusiasm for his new role, stating, “I am honored to join Maryville University and contribute to the wellbeing of our students. I look forward to working with the talented team in student wellness to build on the university’s strong foundation of care and support, while also embracing innovative approaches to enhance our students’ holistic wellness.”
