Maryville Club Hockey Announces New Home Ice

Maryville University’s club ice hockey program will have a new home at the Chesterfield SportsComplex. The groundbreaking ceremony for the complex will take place on Nov. 10.

The Chesterfield SportsComplex is a public-private partnership and is owned and operated by Chesterfield Hockey Association. Maryville University has been instrumental in helping the project come to fruition.

“Partnering with Chesterfield Hockey Association on this complex is a win-win. Our new collegiate hockey teams need ice they can both practice and compete on. Having a state-of-the-art facility nearby gives them a convenient and welcoming place to call home,” said Mark Lombardi, PhD, president of Maryville University. “We look forward to supporting this complex and the greater hockey community it will serve.”

The 84,000 square-foot facility will feature two NHL-sized rinks, seating for approximately 2,000 spectators, a second-floor viewing platform, locker rooms, team meeting rooms and offices.

In addition to Chesterfield Hockey Association and Maryville University, several local high schools have committed to using the new facility include Marquette, Lafayette, Parkway West, St. Louis Priory and Ft. Zumwalt West. The complex will provide much needed ice time and recreational facilities for St. Louis youth and adults and attract local and regional sporting events and tournaments.

Development for the complex began in September and is expected to take 11 months to complete. The grand opening is estimated for late summer 2019. Saints men’s and women’s club ice hockey teams will play at the Chesterfield SportsComplex beginning with the 2019–20 academic year.
