Verry to receive award from prominent educational advancement group

Maryville University’s Director of Alumni Relations Erin Verry will be honored with a Distinguished Service Award.

The award is from the District VI of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), an organization serving educational institutions and those who work in alumni relations, communications, development and related fields. Verry is being recognized for her exemplary professional service including her outstanding achievement in advancement endeavors and service to CASE including serving on both the District VI board and regional conference. She will receive the honor at an awards reception on Jan. 9 at a CASE VI conference in Denver, Colo.

Verry has been working for Maryville University for 23 years, where she has a reputation for her welcoming attitude toward alumni of all graduation years, talent for organizing flawless alumni events, and her ability to assess the strengths of alumni to find them responsibilities they find both meaningful and beneficial to the University.

Verry handles a host of alumni-related responsibilities, including serving as a liaison to the Alumni Association Board of Directors and the volunteer boards that make up the National Leadership Council. She has served on the Case District VI Board of Directors since 2004, chairing the outreach and education committee in 2004 and 2005, the scholarship committee from 2007 to 2011 and working on CASE’s VI regional conferences in several capacities.

Of Verry’s service to Maryville, the chair of the Alumni Association’s National Leadership Council Ann Boyce, ’68 says, “First of all, I don’t know a soul who doesn’t admire her incredible dedication to Maryville University and its alumni.” She and others commented on Verry’s abilities to coordinate events with an easy grace, making alumni feel comfortable while thinking through details to make sure programs flow smoothly. Boyce highlighted a recent Alumni Weekend. “There were so many compliments about the weekend, and they all could be traced back to something Erin did to make it possible. She’s an amazing, amazing soul.”

CASE’s District VI includes Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wyoming.
