About The Program – “From Murder to Trial”

Do you find yourself waiting anxiously for the next episode of CSI, Law&Order, Harry’s Law, Criminal Minds or Bones?

If so, you may be thinking of a career in law enforcement, forensic science or the justice system. This one-week summer program will allow you to explore all facets of the Criminal Justice system. You will be introduced to a hands-on learning experience that explores the process of evidence collection, evidence analysis and the presentation of evidence in the courtroom.

Summer Institute Highlights

  • Crime Scene Scenarios
  • Role Play-Secure a crime scene, collect evidence, introduce evidence in a case in court
  • Evidence analysis and reporting
  • Guest speakers (Detectives, Lawyers, etc.)

Geriann Brandt, Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice and Criminology
Dr. Kent Bausman, Associate Professor of Sociology
Dr. Thomas Spudich, Associate Professor of Chemistry and Forensic Science


Registration and Program Costs

Registration fee of $250 is required.  Registration fee includes lunch, transportation (tours) and a T-Shirt. Register by July 1st as space is limited. If you do not know your username and password click on Account Activation/Password Retrieval on the Login Page.

The following documents also need to be completed and submitted to complete your registration.  Criminal Justice Summer Institute Enrollment Form, Maryville University Pre-College Programs Permission Form & Pre-College Program Health Form.


Eligibility

Students should be entering their junior or senior year of high school in August 2014.
