Ron Chernow Headlines Speakers Series

Essayist and author Ron Chernow will be the the next speaker in the 2006-07 Maryville University St. Louis Speakers Series. Chernow will give his lecture at 8 p.m., Thursday, March 22, at Powell Symphony Hall.

As a critic, essayist, commentator and business writer, Chernow’s work is revered. As the author of The House of Morgan; The Warburgs; Titan: The Life of John D. Rockefeller and his most recent work, Alexander Hamilton, Chernow has solidified his reputation as one of America’s finest historical biographers.

The 2006-07 Maryville University St. Louis Speakers Series will conclude on Thursday, April 26, 2007, with an appearance by Ari Fleischer, former press secretary to President George W. Bush.

The 2006-07 season marks the eighth year that Maryville has served as presenting sponsor of the Speakers Series. Through the years, Maryville has brought to St. Louis such luminaries as Margaret Thatcher, Walter Cronkite, Benjamin Netanyahu and John Major. Several of these historic figures also have spoken at Maryville’s campus.

Maryville University began the St. Louis Speakers Series in 1999 to provide a forum for world leaders to engage in meaningful dialogue on the critical issues facing society today. It is part of the University’s commitment to academic excellence and its ongoing efforts to serve as a good community partner.
