Maryville University – SaintsNation Wireless Network Terms of Service

You are about to access the Internet through the SaintsNation wireless (Wi-Fi) network service (the “Service”) operated by Maryville University. The purpose of the Service is to provide wireless network and Internet access to current students, faculty, and staff of Maryville University. You may use the Service only if you agree to the following terms of service.

Terms of Service (TOS)

Only current students, faculty, and staff of Maryville University may use this Service. By clicking your acceptance or by accessing or using this Service, you represent that you are currently a guests, students, faculty, and staff of Maryville University and acknowledge that you have read all of the Terms of Service (TOS), understand them, and agree to be legally bound by them.

Access to Wi-Fi

The Service is a service provided by Maryville University. Your access to the Service is completely at the discretion of Maryville University, and your access to the Service may be blocked, suspended, or terminated at any time for any reason including, but not limited to, violation of this TOS, actions that may lead to liability for Maryville University, disruption of access to other users or networks, violation of applicable laws or regulations, or violation of any Maryville University policy or standard. Maryville University may revise the TOS at any time, in its sole discretion.

Please remember: NO network communication should be considered private or protected. All communication over the Maryville University network is subject to monitoring. Maryville University reserves the right to reduce throughput or access at any time.

Acceptable Use of the Service

Your use of the Service and any activities conducted online through the Service shall not violate any applicable law or regulation, the rights of Maryville University or any third party, or any Maryville University policy or standard. Maryville University cannot accept any responsibility for any injury or loss that results from inaccurate, unsuitable, offensive, or illegal Internet communications.


You acknowledge (i) that the Service may not be uninterrupted or error-free; (ii) that viruses or other harmful applications may be available through the Service; (iii) that Maryville University does not guarantee the security of the Service and that unauthorized third parties may access your computer or files or otherwise monitor your connection.

Privacy & Use of Information

When you connect to the Service, we will collect device information such as device type, MAC address, and your Maryville network username / Distinguished Name. In addition, the Service generates records of activities such as the dates, times and locations visited on campus while using the Service.

Maryville University uses the information and collected data to provide the Services to you and to enforce its rights under this TOS. Maryville University also may use the information for health and safety purposes, including COVID-19 contact tracing purposes. To do so, Maryville University may, for example, leverage the location and time records already collected by the Service to identify when a device operated by a diagnosed individual was present at a certain location. It then identifies other devices that were present at the same location during the same time. This information in addition to the individuals contact information (name, email address, phone number) allows us to notify device operators of the potential contact with the diagnosed individual.

Maryville University will treat information collected from students in accordance with the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act. Maryville University will not use the information or any data collected for any marketing or promotional purposes. Maryville University will not disclose the information or any collected data to third parties except when required to comply with a court order, law, or legal process, including responding to any government or regulatory request, or as is necessary to address public health emergencies or safety issues. Maryville University will store the connection information and data collected (dates, times, and campus locations) through the Service for 30 days. All of the data collected data through the Service will be deleted following this 30-day period.

By using the Service, you consent to our collection, use, and disclosure of the information and collected data for the purposes discussed herein.


Spamming and Invasion of Privacy of Others, Violating Intellectual Property Law, Transmitting Obscene or Indecent Speech or Materials, Transmitting Defamatory or Abusive Language, Hacking or Distribution of Internet Viruses, Worms, Trojan Horses, or Other Destructive Activities.
