11/8/07
ST. LOUIS — Award-winning pianist and recording artist Ingrid Jacoby will headline the next concert in the 2007-2008 Music at Maryville series, sponsored by Maryville University. The concert will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 18, in the University Auditorium. Jacoby will appear with The St. Louis Chamber Orchestra at Maryville University, directed by James Richards.
The concert will feature Jacoby’s performance of Mozart’s Concerto #14 in E flat K.449, accompanied by the Chamber Orchestra. Also on the program are Haydn’s “Divertimento in D major” and Hindemith’s “Five Pieces for String Orchestra.” Jacoby has performed with orchestras around the world, including Europe, South Africa and Asia.
The Music At Maryville concert series is now in its 27th year. The series was founded in 1980 by Katja Georgieff, then director of Maryville’s music program, as a way of spotlighting classical music on the Maryville campus, and continues to attract internationally renowned, classically trained musicians. Through the years, the series, which started in Huttig Chapel and moved to the University Auditorium in 2001, has featured such talent as pianist Claude Frank, cellist Leslie Parnas, and St. Louis Symphony violinist David Halen and his wife, soprano Miran Halen.
