Dean of School of Education weighs in on newly released NCATE recommendations
11/18/10
Yesterday, the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE), one of the most widely recognized and influential organizations in education in the United States, issued a press release summarizing the recommendations from a panel of experts from around the country. The bottom line: our education system needs teachers better equipped for teaching, and the hands-on clinical time future teachers spend in classrooms before their college graduation is more crucial than ever. It’s a message Maryville University has been embracing for nearly two decades now.
As Sam Hausfather, PhD, dean of the School of Education shares in the following video, Maryville understands the important connection between universities and local public schools. That’s why Maryville’s program has students in schools more than just about any program in the nation, along with long-term partnerships with St. Louis-area schools in both urban and suburban settings.
