ST. LOUIS –For the second consecutive year, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch has named Maryville University a “Top Workplace,” ranking the University  No. 26 among 30 medium size employers in the St. Louis region.

Maryville University President Mark Lombardi said, “This honor is significant because it reflects what our employees say about Maryville University’s direction and their own. We are very pleased to be included again this year.”

The study defined medium-sized companies as those who had 150 to 499 employees.

The Top Workplaces are determined based solely on employee feedback.

The newspaper awards Top Workplace designations based on a survey that measures employee satisfaction. Workplace Dynamics conducts the study.

The survey measures how well employers are satisfied with their careers, whether or not they believe their companies are headed in the right direction, and employee evaluation of job flexibility, wages, benefits, and other factors. Workplace Dynamics is a leading research firm on organizational health and employee engagement. The company conducts regional Top Workplaces programs with 37 major publishing partners and recognizes a list of 150 National Top Workplaces.

Some 90 employers made the 2013 list, including 15 large companies, 30 medium-sized companies and 45 small companies. More than 140 employers agreed to allow their employees to participate in the confidential survey process.

Maryville University’s Director of Human Resources Jackie Plunkett said, “Maryville has a reputation for reaching out to new employees. We offer an extraordinary benefit package and new employees often tell us that Maryville feels like a family where members support one another. Our focus on serving students also creates a very positive work environment.”
