SAINT LOUIS, MO. – Ranked by U.S.News & World Report as one of the nation’s Best National Universities and by Forbes as one of the top universities in the nation, Maryville University is now offering nurses the opportunity to advance their education through three online programs. Two master’s degrees are offered—Adult/Gerontology Nurse Practitioner (AGNP) and Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP)—as well as a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree.

Offered through Maryville University’s School of Health Professions, the graduate nursing program offers a streamlined curriculum designed to provide a set of core studies and practicum experiences to better prepare nurses for advanced nurse practitioner positions in primary healthcare.

All three programs begin with foundational principles and then advance to nurse practitioner courses—culminating in a capstone sequence. Clinical internship courses are supervised by preceptors (arranged by students and approved by program administration) and completed in healthcare facilities local to the student.

While each program focuses on the appropriately aged client at various stages of wellness and in various community settings, they all share a common goal of preparing nurses to positively influence the health and well-being of those in the community they serve. The nursing program pursues this goal by maintaining sensitivity to ongoing changes in the healthcare needs of our society.

Designed with practicing nurses in mind, the online program offers convenient, flexible courses that can be completed while continuing to work. The AGNP can be completed in as little as two years, the FNP in just over two years and the DNP in one-and-a-half years.
