Maryville Symphony Orchestra will perform its debut concert beginning at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 8 in the Auditorium at Maryville University.

Under the direction of Wendy J. Lea the orchestra will perform “The Barber of Seville – Overture,” by Gioacchino Rossini; “Lady Radnor’s Suite,” by Charles Hubert Hastings Parry; and Ludwig van Beethoven’s “Symphony No. 1.”

Admission to the concert is free. Maryville University is located at 650 Maryville University Drive in Chesterfield.

“We’re delighted that professional musicians of the Laclede Quartet’s caliber are partnering with Maryville University to expand our musical offerings,” said Peter Henderson, DM, assistant professor of music. “Lea, the Quartet’s second violinist, has been a wonderful coach for our Maryville students’ string ensemble for the past year. Her initiative in developing a Maryville Symphony Orchestra on campus is greatly appreciated.”
