L. Paul Bremer Replaces CNN’s Christiane Amanpour in Maryville’s Speakers Series

CNN’s Chief International Correspondent given new assignment; Bremer replaces Amanpour.
Ambassador L. Paul Bremer has replaced chief CNN international correspondent Christiane Amanpour as speaker for the February 1 Maryville University St. Louis Speakers Series. Amanpour had to cancel due to commitments relating to her job with CNN. Bremer will deliver his speech at 8 p.m. at Powell Symphony Hall.
During his 23-year career in the State Department, Bremer served six Secretaries of State. Prior to retiring from the Foreign Service, he became one of the world’s leading experts on crisis management, terrorism and homeland security. Most recently, Bremer served as chief administrator of the Coalition Provisional Authority in Iraq.
Future speakers in the 2006-07 Maryville University St. Louis Speakers Series are:
• Michael Medved, film critic and nationally syndicated radio talk show host, on March 1, 2007.
• Ron Chernow, historical biographer, on March 22, 2007. His most recent work is the book, Alexander Hamilton.
• Ari Fleischer, former press secretary to President George W. Bush, on April 26, 2007.

The 2006-07 season marks the ninth year that Maryville has brought the Speakers Series to St. Louis. Through the years, luminaries such as Margaret Thatcher, Walter Cronkite, Benjamin Netanyahu and John Major have shared their insight with St. Louisans and students at Maryville University.
