Former Source Editor to Address ‘Hip Hop, Gender and Race’

Kimberly Osorio, former editor of The Source, will address “New Politics: Hip Hop, Gender & Race,” during the annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration at Maryville University at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 22 in University Auditorium.

Osorio, the first woman editor-in-chief of The Source, an influential hip hop magazine, is currently an editor-at-large at BET Interactive, an affiliate of Black Entertainment Television. Osorio recently published a book titled, Straight from the Source: an Expose from the Former Editor In Chief of the Hip-Hop Bible, which details her experience working at the magazine. A book signing will be held in the Auditorium lobby following the lecture; books will be available for purchase.

The event is sponsored by the Office of Multicultural Programs at Maryville University. There is no admission charge.
