Mathematics Education, Grades 9-12 – Program Features
Students who wish to teach mathematics at the high school level (grades 9-12) enter the secondary teacher preparation program. The program provides a double major in education and mathematics, involving extensive professional education courses with a strong grounding in content area coursework. All teacher preparation programs also involve extensive experiences in partner schools.
Close supervision provided by Maryville’s professors along with the well-established relationships with schools throughout the region help our students develop their philosophy of teaching and hone their skills in real classroom settings.
In addition to a bachelor’s degree in secondary mathematics education; an accelerated program leading to master’s degrees in Reading/Literacy Education, or Gifted Education.
Through field placements and award-winning assignments, student will be exposed to different cultures to be prepared for a variety of settings.
