What’s it like to graduate from Maryville?

Brittany Pomilee, ’19

Brittany graduates from Maryville University with Bachelor’s of Science in Biology (Pre-Medicine). She plans to obtain a Master’s of Education in Student Affairs and then hopes to work in Diversity and Inclusion Affairs.

  • Joins Peer Educators

    After three years training and preparation, Brittany becomes a Peer Educator. She is equipped with the skills and knowledge to educate the community on concepts of social justice, diversity and inclusion.

  • Attends D.C. Leadership

    Brittany attends a leadership conference in Washington D.C.

  • Coordinates MRO

    “Being a volunteer and the student coordinator of Maryville Reaches Out (MRO) is quite humbling. The hard work and dedication of each volunteer and participating organization astounds me.”

  • Becomes President of ABC

    Brittany is named President of the Association of Black Collegians (ABC) her senior year. With her at the helm, it is awarded a Golden Louie for Best Organization and Most Inclusive Advocate.

  • Celebrates Family Weekend

    Maryville invites families to visit every October.

  • Grows as Student Leader

    Brittany’s leadership role on campus expands as she becomes the Head Orientation Student Coordinator of Saints Nation and Disney Leadership Exchange and also the Vice President of ABC.

  • Partakes in Disney Program

    Brittany participates in the Disney Leadership program. “I have discovered there is no perfect leader and that we should continue to strive and grow for ourselves—and for members of our organizations.”

  • Participates in Student Life

    Brittany wins 1st Place with ABC for LipSync during Fall Festival.

  • Begins Leadership Positions

    During her second year at Maryville, Brittany becomes more involved with organizations as a Saints Nation Orientation Leader and becomes the secretary for ABC and the Pre-Health Society.

  • Wins Student Award

    Brittany is named the Outstanding First-Year Student by Maryville faculty and staff.

  • Becomes Fall Queen

    Brittany is named Queen of the annual Fall Festival and wins Maryville’s Got Talent contest with her sister Megan.

  • Decides on Maryville

    Brittany becomes the inaugural Dr. Donald M. Suggs Multicultural Scholar. “I can’t thank Dr. Suggs and Maryville University enough for blessing me with the opportunity to pursue higher education.”
