Data Science – Program Features

Project-Based Learning

This multidisciplinary program consists of 20 courses, covering business, mathematics and statistics, and computer skills. Students completing the required courses will automatically receive a minor in Business Administration.

Early Access to the Graduate Program in Data Science (M.S.)
In your third year as an actuarial science undergraduate, you can apply for the Accelerated Master’s option. This shortens the time you spend completing your degree and saves you money.

Qualified Data Science undergraduate students may take 12 credits hours at the graduate level that count toward both the undergraduate and the graduate degree. Students must have completed 100 undergraduate credit hours (at least 20 credit hours at Maryville) and have a grade points average of 3.6 to be eligible for early admission.

Experiential Learning
With an emphasis on experiential learning, the Master of Science in Data Science program incorporates experiential learning from current or previous professional positions as an integral part of the active learning curriculum for each graduate course and for the overall program objectives.

Professional Partnerships

Maryville is proud to work with numerous corporate and civic organizations in St. Louis and beyond through partnerships created in support of our academic programs and student opportunities. The list of the University's partners is long, impressive, and ever expanding: Rawlings, Mercy, St. Louis Public Schools, Parkway School District, Edward Jones, Northwestern Mutual, RGA, St. Louis Cardinals, St. Louis Blues, and Maritz, just to name a few. Our partners provide students with opportunities to experience hands-on involvement in real-world projects, requiring them to hone market-ready skills even before they graduate. Students also experience a variety of work environments and develop a network of industry contacts through these partnerships, so Maryville graduates often have a competitive edge in the job market. In fact, many of our partners provide valuable internships—which can lead to full-time jobs with the firm or agency.
