Maryville University senior Jamie Shoop of Ballwin, who will graduate with a bachelor of fine arts degree in the University’s studio art program in May, will display her work in an on-campus exhibit that opens Monday, April 9.

The exhibit, “Glimpses,” runs through April 13 in the Morton J. May Foundation Gallery, located within the University Library building. A reception for the artist will be held from 6-8 p.m., April 12.

Shoop said her show will include several paintings and one large ceramic installation. “My show basically deals with how I perceive creation; how each sunset or sunrise resonates a feeling or an emotion,” she said.

Shoop said the exhibit title comes from a song she wrote called “Glimpses of Heaven.” “I believe that creation is a glimpse of heaven, and that is something that I want to share with everyone by creative expression,” she commented.

Gallery hours are 8 a.m. – 10 p.m., Monday – Thursday; 8 a.m.- 6 p.m., Friday and Saturday; and 11 a.m.-10 p.m., Sunday. For more information on the exhibit, e-mail: rphillips@maryville.edu.
