Spaces to Study or Relax

University Library
Built in 1988 and renovated in 2007, the library is a state-of-the art facility where students and faculty gather to study, research and share ideas. The 47,000-square-foot building includes individual work spaces and small meeting rooms to accommodate all needs, with wireless Internet access for laptops and PDAs. A new Information Commons is equipped with approximately forty computers for student use, installed with the complete Microsoft ® Office Suite. The Commons also offers a comfortable setting for students to meet and prepare collaborative presentations. The library provides access to about 18 million volumes as a member of a consortium of Missouri libraries that share resources. The facility also houses the Morton J. May Foundation Art Gallery, and a Kaldi’s® coffeehouse in the foyer.

Buder Family Commons
This 4,040-square-foot building opened in 2006 as a student gathering place and casual venue for campus events. Located adjacent to the recently-built Hilltop Apartments, the Buder Commons includes an outdoor patio area and provides a relaxing social atmosphere for residents and commuters alike.

Charles M. Huttig Memorial Chapel
Named in memory of Maryville Advisory Board member Charles M. Huttig, the chapel was a gift of his wife, the late Margaret Mullally Huttig Mudd, a Maryville alumna. The chapel serves the Maryville community as an ecumenical site for religious services, personal prayer and contemplation. Housed within the building is the O’Loane Reading Room, named for the late Mother Mary T. O’Loane (a past Dean of Studies), and the Sacred Heart Chapel, dedicated to alumna Rosemary Holland Gidionsen, in recognition of her outstanding service to Maryville.
