Multicultural Programs
No matter what gender, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation or religion you are, college will be one of the most exciting times of your life. For the next few years, in addition to your academic exploration, you'll set forth on a journey of self-discovery. You'll find that your ideas, expectations and beliefs are similar to those of some of your peers and quite different from those of others. At Maryville, we empower all students to acknowledge and appreciate their own principles, the ideals of distinctive groups represented in our community and, above all, the values of the human spirit. In the Office of Multicultural Programs, we promote academic and personal growth of traditionally underserved students and assist the university in becoming a community where people of diverse backgrounds, cultures and traditions are understood and respected. We do this by providing educational activities for the entire campus community. These programs, activities and services are designed to enhance the quality of life for Maryville University students and the entire campus community. The Office of Multicultural Programs also coordinates cultural enrichment activities between Maryville University and the outlying St. Louis community. We collaborate with others to encourage formal and informal cultural dialogues. Finally, we provide support for students of various cultures to create an inviting and supportive social and academic environment. |
