Weekend & Evening College Opening Lake Saint Louis Location
Maryville University has announced that The Weekend & Evening College's St. Charles County Center will move from O'Fallon to a new location at 3401 Technology Drive in Lake Saint Louis. The Weekend & Evening College will take occupancy in early December. Classes at the new site will begin in January for the Spring 2010 semester.
Maryville's new WEC location comprises 11,334 square feet-the entire second floor of the contemporary Gundaker Commercial office building. The site is adjacent to the new Meadows shopping plaza at the Lake St. Louis Boulevard exit off Highway 40 and is located just 5.7 miles from the current site at O'Fallon. The location is a 20-minute drive from Maryville's main campus.
"The new WEC location will provide a very modern, student-centered academic experience for our adult students," said Denise M. Evans, assistant vice president of Maryville's Adult & Continuing Education program.
In the new location, students, faculty and staff can enjoy conveniently co-located amenities including nearby restaurants, grocery stores, banks, easy in/out highway access, and convenient, well-lit parking next to the building.
In addition to a large reception area and office space, the new WEC center will feature seven large classrooms and two computer labs. Two classrooms will feature a retractable "air wall" between them to accommodate expanded needs, such as corporate training or other events. All classrooms have a generous number of windows, providing for an energizing classroom environment. An innovative triangular-shaped break room with windows on the east side of the building provides a place to enjoy a cup of café coffee, stash a bag lunch in the refrigerator or access vending machines.
Plans for grand opening and open house events are underway to welcome students, faculty and staff, and the St. Charles County community to Maryville's Weekend & Evening College's newest location.
