Maryville University on October 12-13, 2012 and we encourage you to respond to our Call for Proposals, now posted on ourĀ website.
2012 Conference Theme
Integrating the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning into Academic Culture: Envisioning the Possibilities, Pursuing the Work
We are pleased to announce that this year’s focus will be on deepening our understanding of SoTL through a blended exploration of theory and practice, abstract ideas and concrete strategies, lofty goals and small steps. Many of you have told us that while you thoroughly believe in the concept of the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, you would like to learn more about the various ways it can be integrated into your institutions and how to specifically pursue SoTL projects in your classrooms and programs. Hence, our conference focus will offer an expansive vision of what SoTL can accomplish in higher education as well as practical approaches to increase your ability to embed SoTL into the fabric of your daily responsibilities for teaching and learning.
To address this theme, we are bringing to our campus three outstanding scholars who will share their deep knowledge and extensive experience with the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, Scholarly Teaching, and Student Voice. Our overarching conference goal is to enrich our understanding of how SoTL can enable us to design, implement, and assess optimal learning experiences for our students and to do so, together, in a stimulating and reflective environment.
