Maryville Has 100 Student-Athletes Named Academic All-Conference
INDIANAPOLIS—Maryville University had 99 student-athletes named 2009-10 Academic All-Conference, the Great Lakes Valley Conference office announced today.
To qualify, a student-athlete must have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or have attained a 3.40 over the two most recent semesters.
Maryville was one of five schools with over 100 student-athletes that received this honor as Bellarmine led all schools with 141 selections. Maryville's number of selections is noteworthy as it is the only school of the top five that does not sponsor track and field as a varsity sport.
The Saints led the conference in men's basketball with nine honorees and women's tennis with eight selections.
Women's soccer led all Maryville teams with 13 selections. Baseball and volleyball followed closely behind with 12 and 11, respectively. The men's soccer and women's basketball squads had ten honorees.
Four student-athletes, Eric Gruenewald, Tyler Saxton, Cory Scott and Victoria Timmerman were selected from more than one team.
