Men's Tennis Falls to Central College

ST. LOUIS-- The Maryville University men's tennis team fell 8-1 to non-conference opponent, Central College, Monday.

Freshman Jonas Skold (Linkoping, Sweden) recorded the Saint's lone point of the match with a 6-3, 4-6, 10-8 win at No. 1 singles.

Classmate Ryan Williams (Oakville, Mo.) lost 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 singles while sophomore Dino Kanlic (St. Louis, Mo) lost 6-0, 6-1 at the No. 3 spot. In No. 4 singles, fellow sophomore Patrick Kroener (Wildwood, Mo.) lost 6-3 and 6-0. Freshman Andy Tipton (Quincy, Ill.) fell at the No. 5 spot in a 6-2 and 6-0. Teammate Kevin Rader lost in a 3-6, 6-1 and 10-4 match at No. 6.

In doubles competition, the freshman duo of Skold and Tipton fell 8-1 at the No. 1 spot. At No. 2 doubles Williams and Radar lost 8-3. Junior Matt Murray (Potsdam, N.Y.) and senior Tyler Saxton (Green Bay, Wis.) also fell 8-1 at the No. 3 spot to finish up the day.

Maryville travels to Shaw Park (St. Louis) Saturday for a non-conference doubleheader against Hendrix College and Fontbonne University. The first match is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m.
