Volleyball Season in Review

ST. LOUIS—The Maryville University volleyball team finished with an overall record of 4-24 and were 1-13 in Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) matches under seventh-year head coach Bob Crank in its first year in NCAA Division II competition.

The Saints opened their season with two non-conference matches before traveling to Emory's tournament in Atlanta. The Eagles were the defending NCAA Division III National Champions.

The Saints faced three opponents that were ranked in the AVCA Top 25, No. 1 Emory, No. 10 Indianapolis and No. 12 Lewis, two of which were conference opponents.

Maryville won both meetings against Harris Stowe and sophomore Ashlee Brockenbrough (Chesterfield, Mo.) added her name to the record book on the list of individual match highs with her hitting percentage of .536 on Oct. 28. This ranks as the third best in program history.

Brockenbrough led all hitters with her 257 kills and average of 2.62 kills per set. Classmate Andi Neff (St. Charles, Mo.) tallied 666 set assists and junior Samantha Bock (St. Louis) had 29 service aces.

Junior Kari Blankenship (Owensville, Mo.) led the team at the net with her 61 total blocks and average of 0.63 blocks per set.

Two other Saints, Samantha Bock and Neff also added their names to the list of career leaders. Bock ranks No. 4 in service aces (98) and Neff holds the No. 3 spot in assists per set (6.94).

Bock's season totals of digs (397) and digs per set (4.41) also ranks in the Top Five of Maryville's individual season leaders list.
