Women's Soccer Recap

 
The 2009 Maryville University women's soccer team.
ST. LOUIS—The Maryville University women's soccer team finished the season with an overall record of 5-11-1 and 4-9-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) in its first year in NCAA Division II competition under 11th year head coach Eric Delabar. The Saints finished tied for 11th in the conference standings.

Freshman Dana Hillis (St. Peters, Mo.) and junior Laura Jendusa (Maryland Heights, Mo.) led the team in two categories: goals (4) and points (10). Two players, senior Caroline Jaycox (O'Fallon, Mo.) and sophomore Mindy Tremmel (St. Charles, Mo.) had a team-best three assists.

Freshman goalkeeper Jena Casagrande (St. Louis) logged 1,491 minutes in the net for Maryville and registered a save percentage of .748 which is tied for the second best all-time single season record in program history. She made 101 saves and had three shutout victories.

Throughout the season, the Saints faced four opponents that were ranked in the NSCAA Top 25 poll and all of these opponents were members of the GLVC. Maryville opened its conference schedule with a win against St. Joseph's on Sept. 6.

The Saints went 2-0-1 in overtime games, including a key conference win over Missouri S&T on Oct. 2. Maryville won its second consecutive overtime game against William Woods on Oct. 4.

As a team, the Saints outshot their opponents 240-238.

Members of the class of 2010 left their mark on the program's record book. Jackie Haas (O'Fallon, Mo.)is the all-time leader in penalty kicks made (3) and is tied for third in games played (78). Amy Klein (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.) ranks third in game-winning goals (7), ninth in points (71) and tenth in goals (27).

Amber Hacker (Perryville, Mo.) is tied for third in games played (78) and fifth game-winning goals (5) and Lauren Dieckmann (St. Louis) is tied for ninth in game-winning goals (3).

Dieckmann was also selected to the All-GLVC Third-team as a defender.
