Yeargain Paces Saints at Cross Country Classic

ST. LOUIS â€" Freshman Tyler Yeargain paced the Maryville University men’s cross country team for the third week in a row, as he placed 27th overall at the Saints own Maryville Cross Country Classic held at McCluer North High School in Florissant, Mo.

Yeargain ran a time of 18:45.25 and was just 15 seconds away from placing in the top 25. Sophomore Jake Smith posted a time of 20:13.44 to place 40th out of 56 total runners, while junior Tim Wiemers placed 54th with a time of 25:10.87.

Blake Austin, an unattached runner, was the individual champion with a time of 16:35.21. The Washington University (Mo.) men’s cross country team claimed spots two through five to be crowned the team champion. Fontbonne University and Hannibal-LaGrange College rounded out the top three teams.

Maryville will be back in action in two weeks when the Saints travel to Chicago, Ill., to compete in the Sean Earl Loyola Lakefront Invitational hosted by Loyola University-Chicago.
