Humanities

As the cornerstone of a liberal arts education, the humanities ask students to discover the past, reflect on the present and imagine possibilities for our future.  Those who wish to explore the world and the insights of great minds may choose from courses in English, philosophy, religious studies, law, music history and foreign languages.

The Maryville experience of the humanities emphasizes an integrated understanding of culture and its intellectual, aesthetic and moral components. The humanities department is dedicated to developing innovative and critical thinkers, excellent communicators and ethical members of society.
