When are decisions made on applications?
For general admission, applications are reviewed on a "rolling basis" and typically, you will receive an admission decision within 7-10 days of completing your application. Physical therapy and occupational therapy admission decisions are pending based on interviews by faculty. Art & Design majors require a portfolio review prior to admission to the interior design, studio art, graphic design or art education programs.
What is required for admission to Maryville University?
Freshman - To be considered for general admission to Maryville University, we require all freshman to have a minimum ACT of 20, an SAT of 950 or higher and a high school cumulative grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. To be considered for admission to the university, you must submit the following documents: application for admission, application fee of $25.00, high school transcripts and either your ACT or SAT scores. Those students who do not meet the above requirements are encouraged to submit a letter of recommendation and a one-page personal statement. Please note that additional documentation may be required depending upon the major you choose.
Transfer - To be considered for transfer admission to Maryville University you must have a minimum grade point average of a 2.0 on a 4.0 scale. You must submit transcripts from all colleges or universities previously attended. In addition, if you have fewer than 30 transfer hours, please submit an official high school transcript. Please note that additional documentation may be required depending upon the major you choose.
How much is your application fee?

How do I apply for financial aid?
If you are interested in being considered for financial assistance, it is important that you complete the following steps:
- Complete the Application for Admission including the financial aid addendum
- Submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) using our Institution Code: 002482, as soon as possible after January 1st.
The FAFSA can be submitted by accessing the
Department of Education Web site. Please note that if you choose to submit your information electronically, be certain to mail your signature page at the same time or your data will not be processed and your information will be purged. You may also complete both the federal and institutional application for financial aid in paper format via the postal service. To receive paper applications, call or stop by the financial aid office or stop by your high school guidance office. You are encouraged to complete both steps regardless of the type (need-based and/or merit-based aid) for which you hope to determine eligibility. What types of scholarships do you offer and how do I apply?
Scholarships are awarded to students based on academic, artistic or leadership ability. Students who apply for admission are automatically considered for scholarships, some of which may require additional paperwork. Is a foreign language required for graduation?
Maryville University does not require you to graduate with a foreign language unless you participate in the Bascom Honors Program. If you choose to participate in the Bascom Honors Program, you must take two semesters of a single foreign language. As part of our General Education requirements, you are required to take Multicultural courses. You may opt to take a foreign language to meet this requirement.
How many students live on campus? Is it required?
An increasing number of students who attend Maryville University are choosing to live on campus rather than commute. In fact, one-third of our total student body lives on campus in our two residence halls and five new on-campus apartment buildings. About 60 percent of the freshman class lives on campus. However, students are not required to do so.
How big are the residence hall rooms?
We have two residence halls on our campus, Duchesne and Mouton Halls. The room sizes for Duchesne are 17 by 12 foot and for Mouton, they are 16 by 12 foot. Each room has a window, dressers, closets, beds, chairs, desks, local telephone service, a computer network connection, cable television and air conditioning.

How and when can I visit campus?
Visiting campus is an important factor when choosing the perfect college for your education. Maryville University offers many organized visit programs throughout the school year. In addition, you can visit us Monday thru Friday with daily tours offered at 10:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. You can either schedule your visit online, or call 314-529-9350 to make arrangements.
What sports do you have? What athletic division are you? Are athletic scholarships available?
Maryville University is a member of the NCAA Division III and Saint Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC). We offer baseball, basketball, cross-country, golf, soccer, track and field and tennis for men. For women, we offer basketball, cross-country, soccer, softball, tennis, golf, volleyball and track and field. In 2005-06, Maryville fielded conference tournament championship teams in men's and women's basketball. Sixty-nine individual athletes were named as Academic All-Conference selections and 53 individuals were named All-SLIAC selections.
Due to our NCAA Division III status, Maryville University does not offer athletic scholarships; however, many of our students qualify to receive academic scholarships to assist them with the cost of attendance.
Do you have fraternities and/or sororities?
Maryville University does not have fraternities or sororities, but we have a variety of clubs and organizations that are available for your professional and personal growth. The organizations range from professionally-focused clubs related to your field of study to honor societies recognizing your academic accomplishments. Our clubs also include intramural sports, student government, dance squad, International Club and many more. We encourage you to get involved with campus life!
Do you have an Honors Program?
Yes. The goal of the Bascom Honors Program at Maryville University is to inspire our most talented students to think big and to expand their horizons. Whether you are majoring in actuarial science, physical therapy, education or the liberal arts, the honors program can help you to achieve your full potential not only in your profession but also in your entire life. The Bascom Honors Program is the way many of Maryville's top students enhance their general education requirements.
Freshmen entering Maryville University with a 27 ACT composite and 3.5 grade point average will be invited to apply to the Bascom Honors Program. Transfer students with at least 60 credits to complete and a college grade point average of 3.5 will also be invited to apply.
Can freshmen have cars on campus?
All students who attend Maryville University are allowed to park their cars on campus free of charge. Parking passes are issued by our Public Safety Office to all new students.
Does Maryville University have a religious affiliation?
Maryville University is now an independent, comprehensive, co-educational and community-oriented University. We were founded in 1872 by the Religious of the Sacred Heart, but ownership of the college was turned over to a lay board of trustees in 1972.
Does Maryville University accept transfer credit? When do I find out how many of my classes transfer to Maryville?
Generally, if you earn credits with a grade of "C" or higher at a regionally accredited institution, they will be accepted as transfer credit. To receive this credit you must submit official transcripts from all colleges or universities attended. Upon review of your file, an official letter indicating the number of credits transferred will be sent.
Are internships available?
Maryville University offers you many opportunities for co-operative education and internship experiences. You are strongly encouraged to experience their career field by working side-by-side with full-time professionals. As a result, you will gain experience in professional environments and an understanding of workplace expectations. Our campus is located adjacent to the Maryville Centre Corporate Complex and next to St. Luke's Medical Center, which you with convenient internship opportunities.
How many students attend Maryville University?
Currently, Maryville University enrollment is approximately 3,300 students. This includes nearly 1,500 undergraduates, 1,300 Weekend & Evening College students and 500 graduate students.
When is Maryville University's application deadline?
The application deadline for Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy programs is November 15th. For general admission, our Priority Scholarship date is December 15th, but Maryville University makes admissions decisions on a rolling basis. For your most comprehensive scholarship and financial aid package, Maryville University recommends you complete your application as soon as possible.
