Paula Bohr,
Ph.D., OTR/L, FAOTA
Paula is an Associate Professor and Director of the Maryville University Occupational Therapy Program. She received her baccalaureate degree in occupational therapy from the University of Kansas and her master and doctoral degrees from the University of Oklahoma. Dr. Bohr has been an occupational therapist for over 30 years with teaching experience at the associate, baccalaureate and graduate levels. Her current teaching responsibilities include courses on evidence-based research and administration/ management in occupational therapy. Dr. Bohr’s clinical expertise is in physical disabilities rehabilitation, especially related to upper extremity musculoskeletal injuries. Her current clinical practice focuses on work-related musculoskeletal injury prevention and treatment with an emphasis on designing/adapting environments to support occupations of individuals. She is an active researcher who has received grant funding from the center for Disease Control and prevention and the Office Ergonomics Research Committee. Her research interests include ergonomic interventions, upper extremity cumulative trauma disorders, work injury prevention with emphasis on the effectiveness of ergonomic interventions in decreasing the incidence and severity of work-related musculoskeletal injuries and ergonomics related to maximizing safety and performance in automobile driving. Dr. Bohr is also engaged in the scholarship of teaching and learning at Maryville University and mentors colleagues and students in research. She has presented papers at national and international professional meetings. She has authored book chapters and has published articles in professional journals. Dr. Bohr is an active member of the Missouri Occupational Therapy Association and the American Occupational Therapy Association, currently serving a Vice- Chair of the Professional Program Directors’ Education Council.

Ashlyn Cunningham, MA,
OTR/L
Ashlyn Cunningham received her Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy from Washington University and her Master of Arts in Occupational Therapy from Texas Woman’s University. She has completed her coursework towards a Doctorate in Education from the University of Kentucky in Instruction and Administration and is developing her dissertation on Cognitive Load Theory and its implications for online assessment. Ms. Cunningham has been an occupational therapist for 17 years and has practiced primarily in the area of adolescent mental health. She has been an academician for 11 years and currently holds the rank of Assistant Professor at Maryville University St. Louis. Her teaching responsibilities include occupational therapy evaluation, foundations of occupational performance, occupational therapy theory, and medical terminology. She also supervises evidence-based practice research groups. Ms. Cunningham has presented at state, regional and national levels. She maintains her membership in the American Occupational Therapy Association and the Missouri Occupational Therapy Association, where she currently holds the office of Chair of the Nominations Committee.

Bob Cunningham, MS, OT/L
Bob Cunningham is the Academic Fieldwork Coordinator for the Maryville University Occupational Therapy Program and holds the rank of Assistant Professor. He received his Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy from the University of North Dakota and his Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from Eastern Kentucky University. He is enrolled graduate coursework to complete his doctoral degree. Mr. Cunningham has been an occupational therapy educator since 1991. His current teaching responsibilities include courses that prepare students for fieldwork and applications of assistive and adaptive technologies in occupational therapy interventions. Clinically, Mr. Cunningham has established his expertise in the areas of assistive technology and adult rehabilitation. He currently provides assistive technology consultation and assistive technology evaluations for clients of all ages in the St. Louis region. Mr. Cunningham mentors students in evidence-based research projects related to assistive technology and interventions for those with disabilities. He has presented at the local, state and national levels and authored and contributed to a number of publications and multimedia projects. Mr. Cunningham is an active member of the Missouri Occupational Therapy Association and the American Occupational Therapy Association.

Susan Davis, OTD, OTR/L
Susan Davis is an Assistant Professor in the Maryville Occupational Therapy Program. She received her Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy from the University of Missouri and her Doctor of Occupational Therapy from Creighton University. Dr. Davis has been an occupational therapist for seventeen years. Her teaching responsibilities have included courses related to community practice, psychosocial interventions and human occupations. Dr. Davis interests in community practice, particularly with underserved populations have focused her clinical practice on working with the homeless and chronically mentally ill, isolated seniors in high crime areas, and persons living with HIV. Dr. Davis has presented at American Occupational Therapy Association Conference as well as the Missouri Occupational Therapy Association on community practice. |

Don Kallembach, MS, OTR/L
Don Kallembach holds the rank of Assistant Professor in the Occupational Therapy Program. His educational background includes a bachelor’s degree from Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington Illinois and a Master’s of Science from Springfield College in Springfield Massachusetts. Currently, he is completing graduate coursework toward a PhD in Healthcare Ethics at Saint Louis University. His doctoral studies and his dissertation topic focus on disability rights and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA). Mr. Kallembach’s professional experience includes working with individuals who are visually impaired, being a regional lead trainer for the Missouri First Steps program, working in long-term care facilities in the Saint Louis region and providing assessments to determine eligibility for access and disability accommodations by METRO, the Saint Louis’ mass transit system. His professional experience has provided him with a rich clinical history that he shares with his students in the occupational therapy intervention courses he teaches. In addition, Mr. Kallembach teaches courses with content in utilization of groups in interventions strategies, and the role of leadership and ethics in occupational therapy practice. His area of research interest relates to disability rights and disability legislation. |

Rebecca L. von der Heyde,
MS, OTR/L, CHT Rebecca von der Heyde received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Health, Kinesiology and Leisure Studies from Purdue University in 1994 and a Master of Science degree in Occupational Therapy from Washington University in 1997. She is currently pursuing her PhD in Educational Foundations at Saint Louis University with a focus on motivation and goal orientation of undergraduate students. Her teaching responsibilities include gross anatomy, kinesiology, clinical interventions related to the upper extremity, and research methods specific to occupational therapy. Ms. von der Heyde’s clinical expertise is in acute and traumatic hand therapy, including flexor tendon injuries, splinting, and the use of research and theory to inform clinical practice. She continues to practice as a certified hand therapist at the Milliken Hand Rehabilitation Center. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of the American Association of Hand Surgery and contributes to committees for both the American Society of Hand Therapists and the International Federation for the Societies of Hand Therapy. She is also a member of both the American Occupational Therapy Association and the Missouri Occupational Therapy Association. Ms. von der Heyde presents locally, nationally, and internationally and has authored both peer-reviewed publications and book chapters. Annually, Ms. von der Heyde volunteers with the Guatemala Healing Hands Foundation and offers students the opportunity to travel with her to provide service and education. |
