This program is designed for practicing professionals who have already completed an M.A. in Education and initial licensure for the principalship. The cohort based program is designed to provide intense and in-depth examination of the elements of advanced educational leadership and central office administration. The program keeps as its focus Maryville’s intentional development of leaders who function in a school system designed to prepare citizens for a democracy. Candidates proceed through the program taking 6 hours each semester.

All coursework and internship experiences are designed to focus upon the critical aspects of leading
a community of learners. Professionals can sit for the national exam for the superintendency upon completion of the program.

This degree helps access many building and district-wide leadership opportunities. Candidates can move into assistant superintendent and superintendent positions upon successful completion of the degree and advanced licensure exam.
