All organizations focus on customer
satisfaction - a critical factor in business survival and an
integral part of the marketing major. Marketing is a dynamic
area of study which must keep pace with the continual changes
occurring in global, social and economic systems. The program
at Maryville is designed to allow students maximum flexibility in
the area of marketing they decide to pursue. The business core
provides a strong general business base that is needed by
professionals in marketing who interact with every area of an
organization. After completing the two required marketing
courses, students may design the rest of their marketing major to
focus on the area that best meets their professional needs.
This includes courses in such areas as advertising, professional
selling, international
marketing and market research. Marketing concentrations are
available in Not-For-Profit, Retailing/Services, Sales
Management, and Marketing Communications.
Due to the nature of its
audience, the curriculum for the marketing major offered in
Maryville’s Weekend and Evening College format varies slightly from
the traditional undergraduate curriculum. The WEC general education
requirements retain the same focus and content but have different
course restrictions and credit hours as affected by the 3-4 credit
hour variances. Specific WEC major or minor requirements can be
found in any WEC office.
