The Academic Success Center has a Learning Styles
Inventory available to all students free of charge. After a student takes
the inventory, trained assistants provide free consultations on how to apply
your Learning Style to knowledge acquisition, study skills, test taking
ability, and the writing process.

The Learning Styles
Inventory (LSI)
The computerized Learning Style Inventory (LSI)
currently used in the Academic Success Center contains a multiple-choice
questionaire that asks students to identify preferred learning and working
environment characteristics (i.e. Kinesthetic, Auditory, Visual, or
Tactile preferences).
The inventory takes about ten minutes to complete and
scores itself electronically. Students receive
a three-page print out
detailing their own preferences. Results are reviewed afterward with a
trained learning styles expert who assists students in utilizing the
inventory results.

To take the test: |
• Come
by the University Library and request to take a Learning Styles
Inventory; Schedule an appointment for the inventory and a
consultation;
• Call 314-529-6850 to make an appointment to complete the
inventory and
receive a consultation explaining how to utilize the
information afterward; or
• Write the Peer
Tutors an e-mail requesting an appointment

Consultation on the
Application of Personal Learning Styles
Trained assistants are available to help students
analyze and apply the results of their Learning Styles Inventories.
Consultations focus on how students can use their own Learning Styles to
more efficiently retrieve, retain, and organize information.
