In winter months I spend any free time I can get reading. I love to read! I usually choose books from the Maryville "Hot Reads" section. Fiction is my favorite. In warmer weather I like to spend time working in my flower beds and taking as many walks as possible. Basically I just try to get outdoors! Sometimes that means reading on my front porch…did I mention that I love to read?

When I am not teaching in a classroom, I am volunteering as the Chair of the Peer Assistance program of the Missouri Nurses Association. I founded a support group for nurses in recovery which is the only support group like this in Missouri. I am in the process of developing an Intervention Progam for nurses with addiction. Though I am not in recovery, I am the voice for those who are seeking treatment in a currently misunderstood climate toward those with the disease of addiction.
