Social Sciences

For students who wish to engage the compelling questions in contemporary society, Maryville's social science department offers an outstanding curriculum with several major choices: criminal justice/criminology, history, organizational leadership, political science, psychology, sociology and psychology-sociology.  Our students develop both personal and professional skills - critical evaluation, research, writing, information analysis, organization, problem solving, team building, abstract thinking - which are transferable and highly valued by employers. 

Social science majors are designed to meet the career needs of social service professionals, educators and business leaders in a variety of industries.  For those interested in graduate education, social science degrees provide excellent preparation for several fields - law, psychology, advanced communications.
