First-Year Experience Excursions

The First-Year Experience Excursions are unique opportunities that connect first-year students to other incoming and returning students through faculty and staff led programs.  The First-Year Experience Excursions are optional and provide students a chance to meet others who have similar interests.  Students spend one night on campus in Mouton Hall and then go out into the Maryville community to explore St. Louis, discover the arts, tour a sports stadium, conduct a service project, or participate in action-packed experiences for the day.  Students who have participated in the First-Year Experience Excursions have had a positive experience and met some of their best friends.

The First-Year Experience Excursions will take place June 14-15, 2012.  Students will arrive on campus on the evening of June 14 for dinner on campus, fun filled activities with other first-year students, faculty and staff, and a night in an on-campus residence hall.  Students can choose between LIVE Action, LIVE Service, LIVE Sports, LIVE St. Louis, and LIVE Culture and Arts. The cost for each excursion is $25, which includes dinner on Thursday evening, lodging, breakfast and lunch on Friday, transportation to and from the excursion location and all entrance fees. Students should plan to bring their own toiletries, linens, alarm clock and comfortable walking shoes for the excursions.

Registration will be available at a later date.

If you have any questions about the First-Year Experience Excursions, please contact the Center for Academic Success and First-Year Experience at 314.529.9477 or succeed@maryville.edu.

LIVE Action

Get in touch with your adventurous side by choosing LIVE Action. Your group will experience fun in the world's first all-trampoline, walled playing courts. Together you can enjoy battles of dodge ball or just have fun reliving your childhood!

LIVE Service

Actively participate in a service project in a St. Louis children's nursery. Together as a group, you will have an opportunity to assist the nursery through interaction with the children and help beautify their space. In just a few short hours, you will leave a lasting impact on your community and yourself.

LIVE Sports

Participants of LIVE Sports will get a close up view of the St. Louis Cardinals' dugout and enjoy a behind-the-scenes tour of Busch Stadium. Then your group will enjoy time in Ozzie Smith's Sports Academy where you can play dodge ball, use the batting cages or start a game of kickball.

LIVE St. Louis

Come and enjoy some of what the city has to offer through LIVE St. Louis. With your group, visit one of St. Louis' most notable landmarks and attractions - the St. Louis Zoo. Over the roar of the lions or the icy splash of the penguins, your group will have a blast.

LIVE Culture and Arts

Explore a portion of St. Louis' culture and the arts. LIVE Culture and Arts encourages participants to see the world using their artistic senses. Visit the Loop, an area declared by many as the artistic hub of St. Louis, to explore exhibits and your own creative abilities.
