Maryville University Ranks in Top 15 Percent for Return on Investment for Students
May 28, 2014
[St. Louis—Mo.] Maryville University is ranked in the top 15 percent of all major universities in the nation for the economic value of its academic degrees—meaning Maryville students consistently receive relevant curricula and develop marketable skills. The ranking was recently announced by Educate to Career, a non-profit firm that analyzes the value of a college degree in response to student demand for good return on investment (ROI).
Maryville is ranked 145th among more than 1,200 four-year institutions and is the highest ranked university for ROI in the St Louis region. “When you look at our 94 percent career placement rate, 76 percent graduation rate, our low student default rate, minimal student debt and the great marketability of our graduates, it is no surprise that we ranked so highly,” said President Mark Lombardi, PhD.
Educate to Career rankings measure the improvement in earnings and employability that a university provides to its students, relative to cost. Metrics used in calculating the rankings include:
- Percentage of graduates employed in occupations which utilize their field of study
- Average salary earned by recent graduates, by school for each major category
- Percentage of persons employed within one year of graduation
- Number of years to graduate
- Tuition-net cost
- Loan default rates
The firm’s research shows that a relatively high percentage of graduates who attended colleges in the top one-third of the ETC Index will be employed in their field of study and that a majority of students will graduate in four or five years. In addition, their salaries are relatively high, and very low loan default rates are reported. More than 4,800 employers including Fortune 500 companies, student loan servicers, and thousands of university career centers and career planners utilize the same research data.
