Maryville – Game Face partnership will give students competitive advantage

This fall students in Maryville University’s sport business management program of the John E. Simon School of Business will learn about sports sales and marketing from one of the premier experts in the nation.
Rob Cornilles, CEO, founder & head facilitator for Game Face Inc., will teach a semester-long course, “Game Face: Selling in the Business of Sports.” Cornilles and his firm work with a variety of professionals representing top teams across the country including past clients the St. Louis Blues, the St. Louis Cardinals and the St. Louis Rams.
This unprecedented relationship will give Maryville’s sport business management students experience and insight that far surpasses traditional classroom instruction. Students will utilize the same materials and resources that Cornilles has used the past 15 years with professional sales teams across the country.
“We are excited and honored that Rob Cornilles and Game Face have partnered with us to provide an unprecedented experience for our students,” said Jason Williams, assistant dean and program director of Maryville’s sport business management program. “This concentrated, sports-specific sales training will give our students a tool that sets them apart from the competition when applying for positions.”
Cornilles said it is the first time he has brought his full program to a college campus. “Game Face is very pleased to partner with Maryville University’s Sport Business Management program to bring real-life best practices and case studies to the students on campus,” said Cornilles in announcing the relationship. “After advising more than 400 professional and collegiate sports organizations in North America and Europe, we were excited when Jason Williams contacted us with this unique approach. Maryville’s commitment to provide practical skills to students is a testament to a clear understanding of what the industry is looking for — and why saying yes made so much sense to us.”
Thousands of team sports executives have used Game Face methodologies since 1995 — to both secure jobs and improve them. Maryville University’s sport business management program gives students a variety of learning and internship options. Students have worked with the St. Louis Cardinals, the St. Louis Blues, the St. Louis Rams and the Missouri Valley Conference headquarters in St. Louis.
